When Craig built this home for Jennifer’s parents he promised a “lifetime warranty” for his in-law’s dream home. After a lifetime of living in Ponca City, OK, they decided to move to Edmond after retirement to be closer to their kids. Years of planning went into the intricate design of this home, aptly titled Retirement Retreat. You may recognize design inspiration from Big Cedar Lodge in Branson Missouri with the grand arched entrance and adorable cupola that streams in natural light during the day and lights up like a lighthouse at nighttime. Inside, this single story home is designed for overnight guests and hobby time. Perhaps the favorite feature is the huge craft room at the front of the home where the couple spends their days painting, sewing and reading. The open floorplan features a kitchen completely open to the grand family room with a massive stone fireplace. Notice the wrap around mantle and built-in cabinets on either side that were custom built to look like European furniture. We often grab the opportunity to take clients on a tour through this house to show them that even a handicap accessible home can look luxurious. With wide hallways and doors, easy-turn corners, a walk-in shower and lower countertops, this home will be perfect for age-in-place living.
