Our Recipe for Building Memories.
1. Planning Your Home
From the time you first discover OklaHome Homebuilders, we’re working to help you take steps closer to your dream home. You’ll first meet with one of our New Home Consultants to discuss location, home style, size and budget. You’ll next meet with our Home Designer to start putting your vision on paper. One of the most memorable moments in your experience will certainly be the first virtual “tour” of your new home in 3D version on the big screen. It’s truly incredible!
2. Finance Meeting
We have preferred lenders we can recommend to help you get off on the right foot regarding financing. This is a critical step which clarifies your budget and needs.
3. Pre-Construction Meeting
Once you’ve finalized your contract and financing, you’ll hit the ground running with a Pre-Construction meeting. While we’re getting the plans and permits ready, you’ll meet with our Selections Coordinator and your Construction Manager to start making will be the first set of detailed decisions. Don’t worry, we’ll provide you with a list of questions and selections to consider before your arrival to help you feel prepared.
4. Ground-Breaking
Your Construction Manager will coordinate the team to first prepare your homesite, pour the slab, install rough plumbing and then frame. Once the framing walls go up, it’s an exciting time (and photo opp) to see your home take shape in just a matter of a few days.
5. Masonry Meeting
You’ll meet with our Selections Coordinator to choose your brick, siding and stone. This is the design of the envelope of your home.
6. Plumbing Meeting
Many homeowners (ok, women) dream first of their dream claw foot or modern sleek tub from the very beginning. Here’s your chance to choose that tub, plus faucets, shower heads and all things plumbing.
7. Electrical Meeting
This meeting will be held at your new home (yeah!) while the walls are framed but before insulation. Together with your Selections Coordinator, you’ll decide where you’d like can lights, light fixtures, plug-ins and light switches. Don’t worry, we’ll have suggestions and advice.
8. Tile/Flooring/Paint Introduction
Get out your Pinterest board! The pretty stage is about to begin! You’ll meet at a design center to jump into the huge selection of backsplash, flooring and tub surround tiles. You’ll also discuss flooring types (hardwood, engineered, wood/tile, carpet, etc) and paint. Don’t worry, you’ll have plenty time to obsess and decide.
9. Trim and Cabinet Selection
Keep that Pinterest board open because next you’ll meet again at your house with the cabinet and trim craftsmen to design your custom cabinetry, beams, baseboards, crown moulding, etc. This meeting requires imagination since the walls aren’t sheet-rocked yet so any photos you can print out and bring along always helps covey your vision even more clearly. We’ll have examples and advice too.
10. Paint Finalization
Ok, it’s decision time. Our Selections Coordinator will help you finalize your color palette and make sure that the paint swatch in the store looks great in your home’s nature light.
11. Countertop/Sink Selection
This step is one of our favorites. The countertops and sink selections really set the overall style and mood of your home. You’ll get to custom select each individually at the manufacturer’s show room. From granite to quartz and farm sinks to trough sinks, the options are vast.
12. Lighting Selection
Putting the icing on the cake. You’ve no doubt secretly started this process ahead of time. We have professional designers to assist you in this process starting with a lighting plan mapping out exactly how many fixtures you’ll need and where they’ll go. Have fun, go a little crazy. You’ll never regret a beautiful light fixture.
13. Hardware Selection
The quality of your home shows in the details. It’s these special touches that just add a sparkle. From Craftsman to crystal and industrial to dainty, get creative and mix these up!
14. Final Walk-Through
The last few weeks of construction are full of details, details, details. Your last construction meeting will be a final walk-through with your Construction Manager. This meeting will be an introduction to your new home. We’ll discuss punch-list items, maintenance tips and operating directions.
Your New Home Consultant will coordinate with your lender and title company to schedule the new home closing. This can often be a busy time for you as you pack, hire a moving company and set up utilities. Let us help you de-stress during this time. We’ll offer our May We Suggest preferred partners list including moving companies, professional organizers and cleaning services. We also have a complementary OklaHome moving truck at your service.
15. Closing
Congratulations! Your dream home is ready to officially be YOUR home. At closing you’ll receive keys, garage door openers and warranty manuals.
