Something Old, Something New

When custom building a home for a family, every detail matters. The floor plan, the finishes, the size of the yard – every detail is important and thoughtfully considered for each family’s specific circumstances. But sometimes certain features are considered extra special; Something one of our OklaHome families knows all about!
The Barn Owl Farms home we recently built for the Rose family in Piedmont featured two vintage doors that held a special place in the family’s hearts. The doors came from the husband’s mother’s childhood home in Clovis, New Mexico. The cheery yellow door featuring beveled chicken wire glass was a charming addition to the laundry room.
With its placement right off the kitchen, this door has a prominent location in the busiest area of the house allowing it to be enjoyed by all visitors. When the glass in the door was recently broken, the owners contacted a company in New York that reclaims glass from old industrial buildings. We think this adds even more history to the home.
The master bathroom is a showstopper in itself with a gorgeous clawfoot tub and his and her vanities, but there is something extra about the reclaimed blue barn door leading into it. The door itself is a warm sky blue, a color that has been showing up all over current design trends. Isn’t it amazing how styles come and go (and some stay forever)? The door has an intricate glass knob that adds a touch of glam to this refurbished piece.
